Mohican Medicine for the Winter Months

November 18 @ 3:00 pm 6:00 pm EST

Misty Cook, M. S. of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community, works with plant medicines. Misty continues to pass on traditional knowledge by teaching, giving presentations, and through her book Medicine Generations. During this event, we will learn from Misty about history of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans Medicines and how her people preserved them. Misty will focus on the Medicines used throughout the Winter months, discussing gathering, preserving, usage and questions.

This event is one in a series related to the establishment and growth of a Medicine Garden in the NATURE Lab yard at the Sanctuary, which is part of the Sanctuary’s growing Eco-Art Trail, supported by an NEA Our Town Grant in collaboration with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community Band of Mohican Indians.

We are committed to lowering the barriers to access for events at The Sanctuary for Independent Media. For people who are hard of hearing or deaf, blind or low-vision, or whose physical limitations can interfere with a satisfying experience, let us know two weeks in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
