Youth Media Sanctuary radio producers have been active at Troy Prep! Initiated in Fall 2019 as “Media Club” youth develop skills in audio journalism through hands-on production. Youth take control over the mic and the narrative of their community and their values. Their pieces are broadcast on Hudson Mohawk Magazine, as well as through social media. Listen to their voices!
Media Club is a collaboration between Media Sanctuary, Troy Prep School District and the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Corp. Our curriculum was designed to enhance learning and success by:
- Communication and creative writing
- Building leadership skills
- Investigative journalism
- Recording professional quality audio
- Script writing and interviewing
- Research methods
- Community engagement
Youth Sanctuary Media Club continues our long-standing commitment to “Be the Media!” and Youth Media Sanctuary workshops, directly supports the Sanctuary’s mission is to use art and participatory action to promote social and environmental justice and freedom of creative expression.
