Feeling despair and fear in the wake of the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, musician Lavender took to music to process what she was feeling. The song that came out was “Taylor Floyd.” Lavender spoke with Sina Basila Hickey about the process of creating this song and the role of music in a movement.
