Troy City Council Votes to Start to Deal with Lead Service Lines

On March 2, 2023, at the City Council Finance and General meetings, Troy voted to move forward with allocating more funds to deal with the lead service line issue. Although the City does not have a complete inventory, they are estimating that some 4,500 water service lines need to be replaced in Troy. Concerned community members have been nudging the city about dealing with the lead pipes ever since it came to light that the City was still sitting on a grant from 2018 designated for this issue. Hudson Mohawk Magazine producer Elizabeth (EP) Press spoke with Mark Speedy of the Troy DSA to debrief the City Council Meeting on this topic.
