Summer Book Picks

Looking for a beach or rainy-day read? Laurie Dreyer, branch manager at Troy Public Library’s Lansingburgh branch, has four recently released books to recommend. “Happy Place” (Emily Henry, 2023) is a best-selling rom-com of a recently split couple at a week-long gathering of friends pretending that they are still together. “The Stolen Coast” (Dwyer Murphy, 2023) is, in Laurie’s words, a “sunny noir” mystery set in coastal Onset, MA, about a possible large diamond heist. “Summer Reading” (Jenn McKinlay, 2023), a novel set on Martha’s Vineyard, features a dyslexic lead character, and the print editions are in a “dyslexia-friendly” font. “Honey, Baby, Mine: A Mother and Daughter Talk Life, Death, Love (And Banana Pudding)” is based on a series of walk-and-talks of actor Laura Dern and her mother, actor Diane Ladd (2023).
