Patrick W Berry Associate Professor, Writing & Rhetoric, Syracuse University speaks with Hudson Mohawk Magazines Andrea Cunliffe about his experiences and inspiration for teaching in university as well as bringing higher education into correctional facilities. They discuss his book “Doing Time, Writing Lives: Refiguring Literacy and Higher Education in Prison” and his latest project ‘MEND,’ a journal that celebrates the lives and creative work of incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, and those impacted by criminal justice system. This annual publication showcases art and writing of all types, including fiction, poetry, and nonfiction.
