First Reaction Listening Session: Lookout Creek

Composer and environmental sound artist Lisa Schonberg welcomed three listeners into the studio for an experimental “first reaction” listening session. Listeners responded in real-time to a composition they were hearing for the first time. The featured track was Schonberg’s own work, “Lookout Creek: Eighth Notes,” which she composed as an artist-in-residence at HJ Andrews Experimental Forest in Oregon. This month, Lisa is presenting this as well as three other compositions as part of the project “Old Growth Playback,” which examines cryptic sounds in forest and urban ecosystems. As part of this project, Lisa is also presenting a free field recording workshop from 1-4pm on Sunday Dec 3, and a live presentation of the music on Sunday Dec 16, both at the Sanctuary.
