Youths Learn History and Community Engagement at the Underground Railroad Education Center

Black Americans in Albany played a critical role in helping people escape enslavement in the 1860’s. Learn about them, and hear about projects created by students participating in a summer program, at the free “Young Abolitionists Leadership Institute” open house on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2-4 p.m., at the Stephen and Harriet Myers residence at 194 Livingston Ave in Albany. That’s now the home of the Underground Railroad Education Center. For more info, visit undergroundrailroadhistory.org. Segment produced by Brea Barthel.
