Strong Extended Producer Responsibility Law Introduced in Assembly

As the NYS legislative session heads to an early June finish, one of the outstanding issues is whether they will pass an Extended Producer Responsibility law which has previously been pushed by both the Senate and the Governor. Environmentalists and lawmakers held a news conference at the Capitol to announce the introduction of a stronger EPR bill by Assemblymember Englebright, Chair of the Assembly Environmental Committee. In this report we hear from Judith Enck of Beyond Plastics, Assemblymember Englebright, and Ryan Carson of NYPIRG who is coordinating the effort to expand the Bottle Bill on its 40th anniversary.
