Capital Region Stitching Exchange Promotes English Language Learning and More

The Stitching Exchange, a project created by Melissa Sarris, brings together immigrants in search of community and ways to learn English and people who speak English and want to learn new stitching techniques. HMM’s Corinne Carey spoke with Melissa about the project’s origins, and what’s in store for the future. Listeners who want to volunteer or learn more about the project can contact Melissa by email at [email protected]. The project is currently looking for donated working home sewing machines to donate to recent immigrants, and anyone with language skills who might be interested in volunteering as a translator for Pashto, Dari, and Bangla speakers.
