Opposition to Solid Waste Facilities

More than 60 community activists in Rensselaer gathered on Saturday, June 8th to support a proposal in the County Legislature that would impose a one-year moratorium on new solid waste facilities within one mile of the Hudson River. Groups want to stop a proposed BioTech waste facility at the old BASF site on the river. They also want the state to shut down the Dunn Construction and Demolition debris landfill. We hear from Dave Ellis; Rensselaer County Legislative Chairperson Mike Stammel; and former EPA Regional Administrator Judith Enck. By Mark Dunlea for Hudson Mohawk Radio Network.
