KitchenSanctuary Presents: Home is Where the Maqlouba is with Jude Abu Zaineh [CANCELED/COVID]

April 28, 2020 @ 5:00 pm 7:00 pm EDT

Due to COVID rates and concern for community safety, this event has been CANCELED.

Jude Abu Zaineh (MFA, University of Windsor) is a Palestinian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist and cultural worker. Her practice relies on the use of art, food, and technology to investigate meanings of culture, displacement, diaspora, and belonging. She’s interested in ideals of home and community while working to develop aesthetics rooted in her childhood and upbringing in a muslim environment in the Middle East.

Abu Zaineh has exhibited her work internationally across: São Luis and Lisbon, Portugal; Mexico City; NYC, USA; Toronto, London, and Windsor, Canada; and was one of the first artists to participate in collaborative residency with the Ontario Science Centre and MOCA Toronto (Canada).  She is currently pursuing her PhD in Electronic Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.

We are committed to lowering the barriers to access for events at The Sanctuary for Independent Media. For people who are hard of hearing or deaf, blind or low-vision, or whose physical limitations can interfere with a satisfying experience, let us know two weeks in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
