“Dollarocracy” with Authors Robert McChesney and John Nichols

On the eve of the 2013 United States general elections. two award-winning authors discuss their new book, Dollarocracy: How the Money and Media Election Complex is Destroying America (Nation Books, 2013). Blending vivid reporting from the 2012 campaign trail and deep perspective from decades covering American and international media and politics, The Nation magazine’s Washington, DC correspondent John Nichols, and Robert W. McChesney, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign professor and founder of Free Press (a national media reform organization), explain how US elections are becoming controlled, predictable enterprises that are managed by a new class of consultants who wield millions of dollars and define our politics as never before.
