“Day Night Day Night” with Filmmaker Julia Loktev

February 22, 2010 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm EST

Filmmaker Julia Loktev presents her feature film, Day Night Day Night (2006), the story of a 19-year old preparing to become a suicide bomber in TImes Square. She speaks with a nondescript American accent, and it’s impossible to pinpoint her ethnicity. We never see the bomb; we only see the backpack and headphones that disguise the detonator. Inspired in part by a Russian newspaper story about a Chechen in Moscow, the film could take place anywhere.

Co-sponsored by the Department of the Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
