Underground Railroad in Albany

Find out about African-American abolitionists in Albany in the 1850s and 1860s who helped “freedom seekers” escape from the institution of slavery. Paul and Mary Liz Stewart talk with Brea Barthel about how they discovered and now share stories of Stephen and Harriet Myers, in a house they are restoring that is documented as being a frequent stop on the Underground Railroad. For more information, and profiles of both abolitionists and freedom seekers, see undergroundrailroadhistory.org.
