A Conversation with “Ms. Q” After Her Release from ICE Custody

After almost 3 years in ICE detention which includes multiple transfers between facilities and (most recently) four months in Rensselaer County Jail, “Ms. Q” (a pseudonym, to protect her safety) was finally released from jail on December 3rd. She rejoined her family with a pending resolution of her immigration case, but her fight to remain in this country is not over. Ms. Q spoke to Aileen Javier about how she ended it up in ICE custody, why she decided it to speak up about the maltreatment she suffered by ICE despite the possibility of retaliation, and the conditions in the Rensselaer County Jail.
