Water Justice Lab Open House

This event is part of our Water Justice and Media Lab End of Season Celebration.
Join Riverkeeper and NATURE Lab along with our community science volunteers, fellows, family and friends to celebrate the seventh season of Water Justice Lab. Water Justice Lab. Youth fellows will be on hand to share different aspects of Water Justice Lab, from microplastics research to macroinvertebrate life in local streams, as well as demonstrations of our water testing process. The open house will be followed by a community meal celebrating the many volunteers who make the project possible before we move to the Sanctuary main space for a 7pm screening of short films on local environmental themes, including the youth-produced media lab video about local water ecologies!
Schedule:
- 4:30 pm: Water Justice Lab open house (1st floor of NATURE Lab)
- 6:00 pm: Community meal and volunteer appreciation (2nd floor of NATURE Lab)
- 7:00 pm: Films screened at Sanctuary main space. Register for the screening here.
Water Justice Lab (WJL) is a collaborative program between Riverkeeper and NATURE Lab. Through our water quality monitoring program and related programming, WJL educates communities about water justice, aides in developing the advocacy capacity of North-Central Troy, and strengthens a network of environmental justice advocates focused on water issues within the Hudson River (Mahicannituck) Watershed. This event celebrates the work of our high school youth fellows and community science volunteers. This year Water Justice Lab youth fellows were joined by a youth media team, made possible thanks to a successful spring ‘26 fundraiser. Media Lab (ML) fellows documented the 6 week summer Source to Estuary program, producing a film which will be presented at the evening portion of the celebration event.
