Adopt a Jar, Exhibition by Nicole Chochrek
November 14, 2026 @ 8:00 am – June 12, 2027 @ 5:00 pm EST
Adopt a Jar invites the community to borrow an empty jar displayed on the wall and to fill it will collective plastics content. This is the work of artist Nicole Chochrek whose work asks the viewer to consider the impact of plastic pollution through visual artworks and interactive projects, such as Broken Plastics. These jars can be adopted by signing out a jar with one of the Sanctuary staff either during a public event or by appointment. Join Nicole for an opening exhibition and artist talk on November 20 from 6-7pm, right before the Problem with Plastics book talk by Judith Enck.

Nicole Chochrek utilizes visual and performative frameworks to explore contemporary issues and environmental disparities. Her work focuses on the accessibility and digestibility of information, deep listening, shared responsibilities, and the construction of new ways of being together. As an interdisciplinary artist, Nicole’s work transverses themes such as air quality, land use, waste, and the navigations of a neurodivergent mind. Her process examines our ideas of “correctness” and holds space for possibility.
