November 17, 2026 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm EST
Facilitated by Rebecca Hein
Join us for a hands-on class exploring Digestive Bitters, the classic herbal remedy that supports gut health.
Limited spots available. Registration with a $10 refundable deposit is required to hold your place. Donations recommended on a sliding scale of $0 – 30; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll taste and experience a variety of bitter and aromatic herbs, while learning how these plants support digestion and a myriad of other health benefits. We will make a bitters tincture together for PHS and you will learn to craft your own at home.

Rebecca Hein is a community herbalist and urban farmer. Founder and owner of Underground Alchemy, she has been making herbal remedies grown on what were vacant lots in Albany’s South End since 2011. Her work is driven by a desire to connect people and plants, support community health and empowerment, and position herbalism in the struggle for accessible healthcare.
This series is facilitated by herbalists affiliated with the People’s Health Sanctuary Community Apothecary who are volunteering their time and sharing information for educational purposes. None of the remedies shared in these workshops are intended to diagnose or treat any disease.
The workshop series is held on the second floor of the NATURE Lab building, which is currently only accessible by a flight of stairs. If stairs will present a barrier to attending the workshop please get in touch in case we can accommodate your participation in another way.
