Riverkeeper Wins Clean Water Settlement from Carver Laraway

The owners of the Coeymans Industrial Park have agreed to restore wetlands, monitor stormwater runoff, and spend $1.1 million on environmental projects to settle two lawsuits brought by the environmental group Riverkeeper. The settlement, reached Thursday, August 13, resolves lawsuits accusing the industrial park and its owner, Carver Laraway, of violating the Clean Water Act by allegedly allowing polluted stormwater from the park to enter Coeymans Creek, a tributary of the Hudson River, and by filling wetlands and tributaries of the creek without required federal permits. Riverkeeper Senior Attorney Mike Dulong talks with Mark Dunlea of Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
