DEC Goodyear Whistleblower Dylan Keenan on Air Permits

Dylan Keenan, an engineer for DEC in Albany, was loaned out to the Western Region office to help with the renewal on an air pollution permit for Goodyear Chemicals in Niagara Falls with no expiration date required to be renewed by DEC in October 2017. He found that Goodyear had provided false data for its air permit renewal but even then they far exceeded the legal level for a toxic air pollutant. DEC, while not contesting his findings, fired him for continuing to discuss the matter with the federal EPA after being told to keep quiet.
