Prison Rights Advocates Respond to Correction Officer Strike

Since February 17, 2025 some 14,000 correction officers in New York State prisons have gone on strike. These wildcat walkouts are illegal under New York State’s Taylor Law, which prohibits public sector workers from striking. Next, Elizabeth (EP) Press speaks to two formally incarcerated reform activists – Thomas Kearney founder of Capital Area Relief & Liberation and Jerome Wright a co-director of Halt Solitary and New York State Jails Justice Network – about the effects of the correctional officers’ strike on those incarcerated.
OUTRO Halt Solitary will meet at 10:30am in the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Albany on Tuesday March 4, 2025.
