Menstrual Hygiene Day & Mooncatcher Project

“International Menstrual Hygiene Day” is May 28th. Hear about the many challenges women face in taking care of this natural process, and the many ways that the Mooncatcher Project helps menstruators both here and abroad. Ellie von Wellsheim, MCP founder, explains how a project started in her Schenectady home has grown to provide reusable menstrual kits to millions of people in 38 (or more?) countries around the world, as well as started seven sewing cooperatives. The distribution of kits is supplemented by health education for both boys and girls. You are invited to join a “Moon Bee” to help make kits, no sewing experience needed. Ellie also notes that MCP’s “Period Pantries” in this region (including one outside the Sanctuary’s Nature Lab) are like Little Free Libraries for tampons and pads.
