National Priorities Project On Tax Day And Military Spending

Each year at tax time, the National Priorities Project at the Institute for Policy Studies produces a tax receipt that shows where your 2023 income taxes went. The average American paid more than $5100 in taxes to support the military compared to $346 for schools, $516 for food stamps, and $10.84 for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs to combat climate change.
