GetOutTheVote – May2024

Learn how a group in the Capital Region encourages people here and beyond to vote. Mary Panzetta, a “Letter Leader” for WeGOTV explains how the organization coordinates logistics for volunteers to hand-address letters to registered voters who do not regularly participate in elections. Preprinted letters coordinated by two national partners, Vote Forward and Swing Left, have spaces for folks to write a single sentence on why they believe voting is important. She stresses that the letters encourage voting, but do not endorse a specific candidate or even party. By 2023 the Albany group sent 70,000 cards or letters, the third-highest volume in the country. The goal for 2024 is 280,000 letters & cards. These can be written at monthly events, or by picking up packets of materials to write at home. For more information, email [email protected].
