Talking with Poets National Poetry Month Special: 2006 Albany Word Fest

The Albany Word Fest was an annual series of events bringing poets and writers together to celebrate National Poetry Month. In 2006 the tradition continued at the UAG Gallery on Lark Street for the first of two open mics that featured the vibrant diversity of the region’s arts community.

This week we are going to hear from four poets who took the stage on Friday, April 21, 2006.

First up to the mic is Shirley Powell, an educator, poet, and host from the Hudson Valley. She is followed by three Capital Region writers Courtney Earnhardt, Jared Donnelly, and Simone Nicole.
