Hunger Solutions Wants Universal School Meals In NYS Budget

As state lawmakers continue to try to finalize a state budget, already 3 weeks late, one critical issue is whether the Governor will agree to the Assembly and Senate proposals to add $280 million to fund universal school meals. NY had universal school meals during COVID but the extra federal funding has ended. Jessica Pino-Goodspead, School Meals Policy and Engagement Manager for Hunger Solutions, discussed the issue with Mark Dunlea for Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
