Tim Gray on the Housatonic River Initiative
Grassroots environmental activists in New York State have been fighting for decades to stop–and clean up–toxic waste dumping by General Electric and other industrial polluters. These local struggles against multinational corporations have global consequences, because the same business practices have contaminated the environment worldwide. One of those places is in Western Massachusetts, less than 50 miles from the NY State Capital. Hudson Mohawk Magazine correspondent Steve Pierce speaks to Tim Gray, executive director of the Housatonic River Initiative, about their ongoing struggle for environmental justice.
