Lights Out Norlite Responds To DEC Order to Halt Norlite Dust Dispersal

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued a Notice of Violation to the Norlite hazardous waste incinerator and aggregate producer in Cohoes as a result of the fugitive dust that is blowing offsite and onto neighboring residential properties. Norlite must immediately halt the dust’s dispersal and develop a plan of action within 60 days. Joe Ritchie, a resident of the Saratoga Sites housing complex across the tracks from Norite and an organizer with Lights Out Norlite, talks to Mark Dunlea of the Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
