Earth Justice Update on POW Cryptocurrency’s Climate Impact

The NYS Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee voted to pass legislation (A7389C) to establish a moratorium on cryptocurrency mining. The Senate approved a bill last session. Liz Moran of Earth Justice discusses the negative climate impact of proof of work cryptocurrency mining and how things stand with the legislature and DEC as the March 31 deadline for the Greenidge plant looms.
