Uptown Summer: Urban Gardening & CSA Boxes

The Uptown Summer youth have been cultivating and harvesting produce in the Collard City Growers urban garden for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) boxes that they then distribute throughout the local neighborhood.

The youth had a workshop with Garden Coordinator Erin Johanns, in which they decorated the CSA boxes, and each week they prepare the boxes of produce for distribution to local neighbors of North Central Troy.

In the urban garden, tasks have included pruning tomato plants to help them grow better, planting seeds in the gardening beds, laying down new mulch, as well as harvesting gooseberries.
