Troy City Council Considers Beekeeping Ban

On Thursday, July 8, Troy’s City Council will consider a 6-month moratorium on new bee hives in the city. HMM correspondent Corinne Carey spoke with Christian Grigoraskos, a local beekeeper, about the proposed ordinance, the benefits of urban beekeeping, and how to avoid bee stings. Listeners concerned about the proposed ordinance should visit the Council’s website to learn more and get in touch with their own representatives to let them know where they stand. troyny.gov/government/city-council [NOTE: In the interview, Grigoraskos referred to a 45-day moratorium; the language of the resolution, which can be read here: www.troyny.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/CCRegularAgenda070821a.pdf would establish a 6-month moratorium.]
