Reclaiming History with Prof. Heidi Jo Newberg Part 1

In this segment of Reclaiming History, Lovonia Mallory interviews Prof. Heidi Jo Newberg. Newberg’s current research is primarily related to understanding the structure of our own galaxy by using stars as tracers of the Galactic halo and the disk. In 2012, she was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society “for her contributions to our understanding of the structure of the Milky Way and the universe and for the development software and hardware infrastructure for measuring and extracting meaningful information from large astronomical survey datasets.” She is currently a Professor of Physics, Applied Physics and Astronomy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
