Interview with Ana Joanes Pt2 (Radio Edit)

Radio Intro:
On Friday February 5th, The Sanctuary for Independent Media will be holding an online event called STRETCHED THIN: THE GRIEF OF TRAUMATIC LOSS WITH LISA GOOD of URBAN GRIEF. This event will explore the overlapping aspects of trauma, and grief and consider ways/next steps to build and reinforce our capacities for individual and collective care in our communities. Visit MediaSanctuary [dot] org for more on this event.

As a preamble to this conversation on trauma and collective care, HMM’s Sina Basila Hickey talked with Ana Joanes, director of the film Wrestling Ghosts and creator of the podcast Healing Our Ghosts, about her work, what stress does to the body, self-love, teaching the impact of trauma, and more.
You will hear Ana searching for a word as an alternative to blame and punishment. She was looking for the word “restorative.”
