David Rothenberg Decodes the Music of the Humpback Whales

David Rothenberg is a musician, writer, scientist and professor living in the Hudson valley. His specialty is the music and culture of animals and how they relate to the music of humans. In the latest issue of National Geographic he has authored a pull out section that takes actual songs of humpback whales and translates them into musical notation. Moses Nagel spoke to him about the research and art behind this story and the other projects he has pursued during the pandemic.
