Amidst Rising Violence, a Human Rights Perspective on the U.S. Role in Afghanistan

Hudson Mohawk Magazine correspondent Corinne Carey worked blocks from the World Trade Center in New York City on 9/11 and was involved in anti-war activities, protesting the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. Both she and her colleague at the time, Heather Barr, went on to work for Human Rights Watch. Heather joined the international human rights organization in 2011 as a researcher in Afghanistan, and is now an associate director of the Women’s Rights Division of Human Rights Watch. Corinne talked with Heather about the Biden administration’s recent move to withdraw from Afghanistan, and what impact this is having on the people of Afghanistan.
