Mayor Bill Keeler Norlite Statement Full 2 – 25 Alexis

Cohoes Mayor William Keeler addressed the Cohoes Common Council and the public on Tuesday, the same day he met with Norlite and DEC official regarding the burning of toxic fire-fighting foam in Cohoes. During that meeting, Norlite confirmed they had been burning the PFAS-containing materials from 2018 until December of 2019. Mayor Keeler has called for a moratorium on the burning of these materials and his office is in communication with Governor Cuomo, Congressperson Paul Tonko, Assemblyperson John McDonald, and Senators Kirsten Gilibrand and Chuck Schumer. After the meeting, Keeler spoke with HMM Correspondent Alexis Goldsmith about his meeting with Norlite and the public housing complex that sits adjacent to the facility, Saratoga Sites.
