Open Burning Of PFAS In Tennessee – Mark Toohey

The Holston Army Ammunition Plant in East Tennessee was issued a Clean Air Act permit on Feb 1st that allows for much as 1,250,000 pounds of munitions wastes the open burned, and some containing up to 15% PFAS, by weight.

Mark Toohey is a General Sessions Court Judge in East Tennessee and lives about a mile from the Ammunition Plant. In this segment, Mark describes some of the ammo plant’s history; its impact on him, his family, and his community; as well as how he and other environmental advocates from across the US have responded to protect nearby residents and the adjacent Holston River.
