Visit the pop-up outdoor studio of Broken Plastics artist Nicole Chrochrek for some hands-on art-making and education about plastic pollution. For more than a year, NATURE Lab has hosted one of Nicole’s microplastics recycling bins. This fall Nicole and Water Justice Lab are hosting a series of pop-up workshops so community members can use the collected plastic pieces to make mosaic tiles to be exhibited at Context Collective gallery and The Sanctuary main space gallery in October and November 2026. 

Nicole Chochrek utilizes visual and performative frameworks to explore contemporary issues and environmental disparities. Her work focuses on the accessibility and digestibility of information, deep listening, shared responsibilities, and the construction of new ways of being together. As an interdisciplinary artist, Nicole’s work transverses themes such as air quality, land use, waste, and the navigations of a neurodivergent mind. Her process examines our ideas of “correctness” and holds space for possibility.
