Next Up to The Mic: Mimi Moriarty & Tim Verhaegen at the Sand Lake Center for The Arts

This week, Thom Francis welcomes poets Mimi Moriarty and Tim Verhaegen to the stage. They both read their poems at a special one-day edition of the Word Fest at the Sand Lake Center for The Arts on April 27, 2024.

After a four-year hiatus, the Hudson Valley Writers Guild brought back the Word Fest for a special one-day open mic event at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts. The day was filled with poets and writers taking the stage and sharing their work. For some, it was their first time on stage reading poems in public. For others, this was a time to catch up and reconnect in a familiar setting.

Two of the poets who took the stage that day were Mimi Moriarty & Tim Verhaegen, who have been involved in the local writing community for many years, not just as writers, but also as hosts, workshop leaders, and more.

Mimi shared two poems, one about being alone and its companion piece about being an introvert. Next up, Tim read a poem reflecting on a visit to the cemetery.
