The Sanctuary is Hiring!


The Sanctuary for Independent Media, the Troy- based arts, environmental justice, science and media nonprofit, is looking for an Interim Operations Manager to fulfill certain important responsibilities on a part-time, six-month basis. The purpose of this position is to continue the successful functioning of the Sanctuary in the interim that the organization is without an executive director.  During this time, The Sanctuary for Independent Media will work to vision our future before hiring a new executive director.  The interim operations manager will be part of the Staff collective and responsible to the Board of Directors.

Primary among the responsibilities is overall financial management for the Sanctuary, including writing and helping apply for grants; ensuring compliance with and accounting for existing grants; managing payroll and coordinating accounting with Sanctuary staff.

Secondary is overall responsibility for buildings management.  The Sanctuary owns a diverse campus of mixed use and residential buildings, an outdoor performance space, and several gardens located on 6th Avenue in Troy. The interim operations manager will be responsible for ensuring that overall maintenance is provided; that necessary repairs are taken care of; and that the buildings are functioning and safe parts of the north Troy community.

The interim operations manager is expected to work collaboratively with Staff, and to assist Staff with other functions that may not be enumerated here.

Schedule: Position to commence immediately

Duration: six months to one year, with an option to a permanent position

Hours: 20 hours/week

Payment: $35 per hour
