Young Researchers Isabelle & Isla

We observe far away places and find connections to local issues in the third installment to the Young Researchers series. First, Isabelle discusses flooding in Venice, Italy and follows it back to the Hudson River. Then, Isla explains how light pollution impacts astronomical research and our ability to stargaze.

The Young Researchers program pairs grade-school students with an RPI student mentor who assists them in researching and presenting a topic of their interest through the lens of sustainability.

Brandon Costelloe-Kuehn, a lecturer in science and technology studies at RPI, directs the Eco Ed program at RPI, and teaches a sustainability class that offers the Young Researchers program.
