Women in Poverty, Women in Leadership

On March 15th, a conference entitled “Women in Poverty, Women in Leadership” was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Troy. This conference was led by the Poor People’s Campaign, a national movement focused on a confrontation with poverty, systemic racism, militarism, and ecological destruction. WOOC youth interns Traevon Vautrin and Lauryn Wilson attended the conference and captured interviews with people in attendance. Traevon and Lauryn spoke with Nina Nichols, her daughter Tolonda, and Brittany Vogel. They also captured segments of the panel discussion with women activists, with a focus on Michelle O’Leary.
