Upstate Mixtape – Interview with Jammella Anderson and Raquel Velho

There’s a new collection of tracks by artists local to the Albany/Troy region. It is called the Upstate Mixtape and the first volume was just released on November 15th. It’s a compilation that’s diverse in genre, with songs running the gamut from funk to rap to ambient folk. It’s also diverse in the identities of the curated musicians. The proceeds from sales of the album are distributed back to Black contributors as a form of reparations. HMM correspondent, Ben Seretan, speaks with organizers, Jamella Anderson and Raquel Velho, about the project, the local music scene, and the Free Food Fridge Albany.
