Transgender Day of Remembrance with Justice Dazzle

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honorRita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed. Now the Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of violence. It occurs at the end of Transgender Awareness Week – a time to help raise visibility for transgender people. In this segment, WOOC producer Elizabeth Press speaks to Justice Dazzle about the Transgender Day of Remembrance.
