School Zone Speeding

On Tuesday, traffic safety advocates protested outside a fundraiser for State Senate Republicans at the Troy Country Club. Their purpose was to urge the lawmakers to return to Albany to reinstate and expand New York City’s school speed camera program. Transportation Alternatives — a nonprofit whose mission is to reclaim New York City streets from the automobile — and Families for Safe Streets — a group of New Yorkers whose loved ones have been killed in traffic crashes — organized the action. WOOC correspondent Elizabeth Press spoke with three of the advocates outside the Troy Country Club.
