In another segment of Reclaiming History, Lovonia Mallory visits Savannah Georgi takes a tour of historic downtown Savannah and stops by the Beach Institute. “The Beach Institute African American Cultural Center is the Winner of the 2016 Governor’s Award for the Arts & Humanities of Georgia. It was founded in 1865 during Reconstruction as the first official school for African-Americans in Savannah, GA.
