Myrtle Avenue Fire

Five homes on Myrtle Avenue in the Mansion Neighborhood of Albany’s South End were lost to fire Thursday night and Friday morning, August 22 and 23, with 42 persons left homeless. Neighbors all say the conflagration started in a vacant Red X building that had recently been occupied for use as a crack house. The mayor was on hand to meet with residents and neighborhood activists.
