Sofia Villela

Sofia Villela joined the Sanctuary as a social media intern for the fall 2017 season. She graduated from SUNY Binghamton in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a minor in Global Studies. As an undergraduate, she took part in a student-run a cappella group, women’s club soccer, and studied abroad at the University of Cape Town. Originally from Albany, NY Sofia found the Sanctuary after looking to get involved locally post-grad.

Within The Sanctuary for Independent Media, Sofia has worked closely with creating content for the website, advancing the Sanctuary’s social media presence and assisting visiting gallery artists. Here she stands in front of Susan B. Anthony’s fall 2017 photo gallery exhibition “The Troy Project,” which she helped in arranging. She has enjoyed taking part in the Sanctuary family, and meeting all the amazing individuals who dedicate their time to bring this vibrant community space to life.
