Dylan Canterbury

Dylan Canterbury is an acclaimed trumpeter, composer and educator residing in the Capital District of New York. Over the years he has had the opportunity to work with such notables as the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, the Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra, and the All-Star O’Rourkestra. Locally, he can be seen with his own groups as well as with Keith Pray’s Big Soul Ensemble, Phil Allen’s Concert Jazz Band, and Cliff Brucker’s Full Circle, among others. He is currently planning his first album as a leader, scheduled to be released in 2019.
 
Working for Jazz Lines Publications, Canterbury has over 30 published big band and small group transcriptions, as well as four original compositions published under the Walrus Music side label. Active in the field of education, he is a member of the adjunct faculty of Schenectady County Community College, where he directs the jazz ensemble and teaches jazz history. He has been DJ’ing the Sanctuary for Independent Media’s “Jazz Sanctuary” show every other Wednesday since its inception.
